The Good and the Bad

The Halls internet service gets me to log in everyday. I embarrased myself today when after someone asked me to speak to some people by saying 'why did I have to talk to them?'. I walked slowing in front of one of lecturers cars and failed to get out of the way for a while. I insulted my friend behind his back - and that was a slip, saying that he has difficulty speaking, when all I wanted to say that he was pretty quiet? Good things. Said friend asked for my phone to call a taxi and to wait with them and actually came back to say goodbye today. I don't know why I feel so good however. I really am a teenage girl. :D

If I get disconnected, I will not be a happy bunny.

So, the new internet connection system for Derby halls went active today it seems. What was old with the old one? The new network access controls make me nervous. Oh well. Also, I went down and purchased a book (Toast, Nigel Slater) and an ice cream. It seems I wasn't very good at resisting temptation today.

Ash! Ouch! Ow!

I did something really stupid just now, I opened my door with force... onto my big toe. It bled a little bit is fine I think. It has been raining all day today which makes a change, but I had to close my curtains at just gone four because it was dark. This doesn't happen down home.

Back here.

In Derby. Have been watching the Hairy Bikers and Living in the Sun. Also The 8th Doctor Adventures on BBC Radio 7. I've missed the first few episodes of the first series, but only three episodes. I've also forgotten how to spell '8th'. With Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith. I watched an episode yesterday called 'Phobos'. On one of the moons of Mars there were all of these extreme adventure enthusiasts and a creature that lived off a kind of enjoyable fear from another dimention. Unlike some other radio productions, it didn't seem like it was missing the 'action' as it were. It's good.

Doctors

I used to watch Doctors a few years ago, but stopped in the days before BBC Iplayer and because I didn't like any of the characters. I have began to watch it again, along with the little bits of Eastenders (I don't watch it all or like it much, honest!) I must be on a soap kick. Now in Doctors, there was this kiss scene and it was weird because it was shot looking at the back of one of their heads. Although I liked the hand behind the head, it was unusual. Also, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why I started watching it again, or maybe it does... heh.

So you're going to live in paradise...

As an Athiest, seeing a former classmates blog is a bit daunting. It's obvious we both have nothing to say, they're just trying to hide it. All of this Christian stuff. It's on a plain I can't understand.

I'm not really sure what I'm saying.

I love my home.

Cornwall

I have just returned from sunny Cornwall to thunderstormy and muggy home. We bought the wrong wireless router today which had to go back today. Been on the computer for most of yesterday and today to catch up with stuff. Watching Top Gear.

Going home

So I am going home tomorrow. That is good. However I have not packed and I only have until tomorrow morning. Ah, this should be fun.

Fire Safety.

I know they only have shifts at night, but the security guard, without his refective jacket, came in to do a fire safety check, which only lasted a few minutes and spoke to me about my friend N who managed to befriend him as she struggled to get into the building. Was weird and slightly embarrasing, she talks a lot.

Being a tourist!

I went to two museums on saturday, the Industry museum in the Silk Mill and Pickfords House Museum of Geogian Life. I particulary liked the 1940's Air Raid Shelter in the bottom of the building complete with radio and music. I know that is not georgian but they had more recent exibits from when more modern people lived there.

It was fun! What am I going to do tomorrow?

Sigh

So yes, I've been away for a while. Yes, I'm not posting photos anymore. That lasted long.

365-2

It's been quite a long time.

Anyway. 365 pictures from the last two weeks.

Friday 13th February

13.02.09

This is a view out of my kitchen window. You can see the church, the new flats that they're having difficulty selling, and the brook.

Saturday 14th February

14.02.09

This is a river that I found while going a different way back from the main University building.

Sunday 15th February

15.02.09

This is my board with clippings on it, it took ages to put up and I'm proud of it.

Monday 16th February

16.02.09

Some snowdrops by the Markeaton Brook.

Tuesday 17th February

17.02.09

This is a roundabout in a park. Yes, I've had a couple of goes. Roundabouts were taken down around my way because they were said to be dangerous.

Wednesday 18th February

18.02.09

A small waterful leading into a pond in Markeaton Park.

Thursday 19th February

19.02.09

This is a picture that I took on the train on the way towards home. It was a really quick train (1hr 15mins) I thought I had disabled the flash, but it turns out I hadn't.

Friday 20th February

20.02.09

I actually forgot to take a picture on friday so this one was on saturday. These are toys that I have on my wardrobe doors. The yellow one is the original and I actually have another yellow one and the red ones were ones I picked up years later. You pull the string, and they have a song and they move.

Saturday 21st February

21.02.09

Crocuses in my front garden.

Sunday 22nd February

22.02.09

Better picture I look on the train somewhere in the hour before Leicester.

Monday 23rd February

23.02.09

This is the building in the middle of Markeaton Park. It houses a cafe.

Tuesday 24th February

24.02.09

This is a fuzzy picture of Brittania Mill, which has been externially renovated. The windows were better than I expected, but really impractical.

Wednesday 25th February

25.02.09

My block at halls. You can't see my room though.

Thursday 26th February

26.02.09

My new screen wipe I got for Christmas. It's a monkey!

It's really late and this took ages. Goodnight.

365-1

Hey. So a lot of good things happened today. These include me feeling more cemented into my class with Jon and Jonathan, Jonathan actually was quite chatty today as he's normally quiet. Also, when I got home, I nearly ran into a flatmate as I was coming out of the kitchen and we both started with shock! So it's been a good day.

I have decided to do or attempt to do the 365 project where you take a photo for everday. I'm not sure I can remember what days I took these on, but still, here it is!

Thursday 5th February 2009

This is the view of the recently remodled Brittania Mill through a window in the door to a classroom (MS014) in the Markeaton Street building.

05.02.09

Friday 6th February

I encounted this swan as I came back from the Library. It is one of pair that resides on a pond and it can be quite aggressive, often coming towards people as it did here.

06.02.09

Saturday 7th February

This is the view from my kichen window. You can see the Markeaton Brook to the lower left and the walkway, with some buildings behind it.

07.02.09

Sunday 8th February

I caught the snow and the pub on camera from my front window.

08.02.09

Monday 9th February

This is a more less known part of Markeaton Park as I went walking on Monday.

09.02.09

Tuesday 10th February

This is a river that flows though a Park that I believe it to be on Slack Lane, but I do not know. It still had snow and there is other things in the park such as a goal and a basketball hoop.

10.02.09

Wednesday 11th February

This is a large blue 'T' that has resided in the corridor of the Markeaton Street building for ages now. It has a peice of paper on it that says 'Do not touch' which someone has ripped it off to say ' Do touch'. No-one knows quite what it is.

11.02.09

Thursday 12th February

This is a packet of crisps that I recently demolished. They're 2 for £2 at the moment. Yum!

Karaoke Night

I saw the full moon and Orion today. The moon and the stars were very bright tonight. Also, I heard 'Candle in the Wind' from the pub. I forgot the word Orion as soon as I went indoor and had to look it up.

The Electrical Installation of a Domestic Property.

Just a note to say I don't actually know a lot about the above.

On the front page, it says, well to cut a long story short, what's the most exciting domestic solution you've ever come up with? And I'd have to say it was getting spaghetti bolognase off of my friends new cream carpet with fairy liquid. Yeah.

So I am back in Derby now. Have 3+ peices of work that need to be in by the 6th. Oh dear. The common room is suspiciously empty at the moment, I bet it'll come to just after dinner and 30 million people will go in there. It's the way the world works.

Oh rats, it's started, the pool players. They'll be there all night.
